What does an AWS static website cost?
The deployment tool is free; AWS usage, domains, retained releases, and optional monitoring are billed separately.
The tool and the hosting bill are separate
InsertCart AWS Web has no deployment service fee in this version. Your website resources are created in your AWS account, and AWS bills you for applicable usage. This page does not promise free hosting or a fixed monthly amount.
What can contribute to your bill
- S3: stored website files, earlier releases, object versions, and request activity.
- CloudFront: requests, data delivery, and chargeable invalidations according to current AWS pricing.
- Domains and DNS: domain registration or renewal, hosted zones, and applicable DNS usage.
- Optional monitoring: alarms, notifications, and other enabled AWS services.
Your own website code can call additional services that incur separate costs. Free Tier eligibility, credits, and pricing depend on your account, region, service, and current AWS terms. Check AWS pricing and use the AWS Pricing Calculator for your expected traffic and file sizes.
Use alerts and review retained files
The optional dashboard budget monitors the entire connected AWS account, including costs unrelated to this website. It sends an email notification at 80% of the monthly amount you choose. Alerts do not stop spending and can arrive after additional usage has accrued. Server error alerts use an SNS email subscription that requires confirmation.
Complete releases and S3 versions are kept for recovery. Remove releases you no longer need only after confirming that they are neither active nor required for rollback. Review your AWS billing dashboard regularly.
For the service operator
The separate management stack has its own AWS charges: Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, a KMS key, staged uploads, and logs. Those operator costs are separate from a visitor’s website resources. This implementation does not include subscription billing or transfer those management charges to visitors.
